Risks and Opportunities in Future Data
Risks and Opportunities in Future Data

Predicting the future has never been more challenging - not because of the lack of data but because of the flood of ungoverned and risk laden information.

Microsoft states that 2.5 exabytes of data are created every day. Expectations and reliance on data are being pushed to the limits, as demands around hybrid options continue to grow.

Governance and Risk are the buzz words for tomorrow's organizations, but what do they mean?

Each of you is in a powerful demanding position of great responsibility. What are the implications of the enormous acceleration of data that compounds each minute? Join Eric as he walks through this complex data conversation and empowers you to mitigate risks and make the most of the opportunities. You'll be inspired, energized and informed by this speech.

Making Global Cloud Storage Consolidation a Reality
Making Global Cloud Storage Consolidation a Reality

Enterprises worldwide are looking for ways to leverage the cloud as a smarter infrastructure approach. While pushing server-based apps to the cloud has proven beneficial and possible, one workload has eluded cloud architects around the globe - using the cloud to replace the millions of on-prem file servers that users pound on daily. With the escalating cost of ownership for on-prem storage infrastructure (backup, availability, capacity, and audit/compliance management) and the associate risk (data loss, breach, compliance issues), finding ways to leverage the cloud for his has become a holy grail.

A number of technologies have become available in cloud-friendly formats that can now address this workload, allowing dozens or even hundreds of distributed file servers to be consolidated into a single, cloud-resident footprint. These include the latest distributed network file systems, storage-optimized network protocols, intelligent caching, and global locking schemes that when used together can deliver savings of up to 70% and a far more secure and manageable environment.

The objective of this session will be to provide the audience with fundamental understanding of the technologies involved in a cloud storage consolidation project, the basic implementation steps, and an understanding of how to shape the ROI from such a project to present to their teams.

Monetizing the Cloud
Monetizing the Cloud: Protection and Assertion of Intellectual Property

As the fourth industrial revolution continues to march forward, key questions remain related to the protection of software, cloud, AI, and automation intellectual property.

Recent developments in Supreme Court and lower court case law will be reviewed to explain the intricacies of what inventions are eligible for patent protection, how copyright law may be used to protect application programming interfaces (APIs), and the extent to which trademark and trade secret law may have expanded relevance to the cloud.

Best practices for intellectual property protection, licensing, and other topics will be presented, including checklists for engineers, product managers, sales/marketing, and other constituencies.
Drawing upon his pre-lawyer life as a product manager for cloud based products, the presenter will emphasize those topics believed to be most practically relevant.

Agenda:
Types of Intellectual Property
Types of Cloud Intellectual Property

Analysis of Security Requirements for Digital Twin Deployments
Analysis of Security Requirements for Digital Twin Deployments

A Digital Twin simulation model is a powerful model for implementing predictive failure analysis of industrial equipment. The unique machine learning software and computational demands of a modern digital twin simulation for complex machines typically require a cloud hosted model. This presents a challenge for critical infrastructure operators who are concerned about protecting their operations technology (OT) network from cybersecurity threats. This talk will look at the unique data flows and special security properties of a digital twin deployment for industrial equipment. The resulting model will be used to suggest a set of recommended best practices for an integrated, defense-in-depth strategy security strategy.

Is Hybrid the Missing Link to Cloud?
Is Hybrid the Missing Link to Cloud?

Concerns about security, downtime and latency, budgets, and general unfamiliarity with cloud technologies continue to create hesitation for many organizations that truly need to be developing a cloud strategy. Hybrid cloud solutions are helping to elevate those concerns by enabling the combination or orchestration of two or more platforms, including on-premise infrastructure, private clouds and/or third-party, public cloud services. This gives organizations more comfort to begin their digital transformation without a complete overhaul of their existing infrastructure – serving as a sort of “missing link” for transition to cloud utilization.

While a hybrid cloud can ease that transition, designing and deploy that hybrid cloud still offers challenges for organizations concerned about lack of available cloud skillsets within their organization. Managed service providers offer a unique opportunity to fill those gaps and get organizations of all sizes on a hybrid cloud that meets their comfort level, while delivering enhanced benefits for cost, efficiency, agility, mobility, and elasticity.

Attend This Educational Session to Hear Such Topics As:

* Defining a Hybrid Cloud vs Pubic, Private, or Multi-Tenant cloud environments
* The advantage of a Hybrid approach for smooth cloud transitions
* Identifying potential pitfalls
* The benefits that a managed services provider (MSP) can deliver

Who Should Attend:

* SMBs who need personalized cloud assistance with hands-on support
* Large or enterprise customers evaluating ways to migrate to the cloud
* Large or enterprise customers who are currently using public cloud options, but need more secure options

Economics of the Cloud
Economics of the Cloud: Don't Aim for the Sky on Everything

Public clouds dominate IT conversations but the next phase of cloud evolutions are “multi” hybrid cloud environments. The winners in the cloud services industry will be those organizations that understand how to leverage these technologies as complete service solutions for specific customer verticals. In turn, both business and IT actors throughout the enterprise will need to increase their engagement with multi-cloud deployments today while planning a technology strategy that will constitute a significant part of their IT budgets in the very near future. As IoT solutions are growing rapidly, as well as security challenges growing exponentially, without a doubt, the cloud world is about to change for the better. Again.

The audience will gain understanding of the following:

* Economics of the cloud: Should everything move?
* Workload selection: What goes where
* Analysis of how end-users approach various cloud offerings
* What Google, Azure, Amazon provide that is not otherwise available
* Agility of the cloud coupled with tools – enabling the impossible
* Maneuvering through regulatory and compliance challenges
* Decision-making: Security, compliance & consolidation
* Case studies

Visualizing Canary Rollouts with Istio and Helm
Visualizing Canary Rollouts with Istio and Helm

Istio is one of the most important things to happen to continuous delivery/deployment since Kubernetes. In this talk, you'll learn how to leverage Helm and Istio to create reliable automated deployment. To help us visualize the rollout we've built an interactive, open-source app and will ask audiences to help decide if a rollout continues or not. The secret sauce uses a little-known feature of Helm to create arrays of Kubernetes stacks and Codefresh to manage custom health-checks and keeping the rollouts synchronized.

You don't want to miss this very visual and interactive talk.
